What Is Smart Glass?
Smart glass (also known as switchable glass or privacy glass) is a high-performance glazing product that can change its transparency in response to an electric current.
It uses Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) or Suspended Particle Devices (SPD) technology inside the glass that when powered, align the particles to let light through. When switched off, they scatter to create a frosted finish—offering instant control over privacy and light.
It is also possible to create switchable glass which tints the glass to create near blackout conditions using blackout smart glass. With SPD technology, upto 99% of light can be blocked out with 100% UV blocking.
Smart glass can be integrated into the glass structure or retrofitted to existing installations by using switchable film applied to the glass.
